אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵֽי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ, תָּבֽוֹא לְפָנֶֽיךָ תְּפִלָּתֵֽנוּ, וְאַל־תִּתְעַלַּֽם מִתְּחִנָּתֵֽנוּ, שֶׁאֵֽין אָֽנוּ עַזֵּֽי פָנִֽים וּקְשֵֽׁי עֹֽרֶף, לוֹמַֽר לְפָנֶיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, צַדִּיקִֽים אֲנַֽחְנוּ וְלֹא חָטָֽאנוּ, אֲבָל אֲנַֽחְנוּ וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ חָטָֽאנוּ:

Our God and God of our fathers, may our prayers come before You, and do not turn away from our supplication, for we are not so impudent and obdurate as to declare before You, Lord our God and God of our fathers, that we are righteous and have not sinned. Indeed, we and our fathers have sinned.

While mentioning a transgression, gently strike the left side of the chest (over the heart) with a closed fist.

We have transgressed, we have acted perfidiously, we have robbed, we have slandered. We have acted perversely and wickedly, we have willfully sinned, we have done violence, we have imputed falsely. We have given evil counsel, we have lied, we have scoffed, we have rebelled, we have provoked, we have been disobedient, we have committed iniquity, we have wantonly transgressed, we have oppressed, we have been obstinate. We have committed evil, we have acted perniciously, we have acted abominably, we have gone astray, we have led others astray.

סַֽרְנוּ מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ וּמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ הַטּוֹבִֽים וְלֹא־שָֽׁוָה לָֽנוּ: וְאַתָּֽה צַדִּיק עַל כָּל־הַבָּא עָלֵֽינוּ כִּי־אֱמֶת עָשִֹֽיתָ וַאֲנַֽחְנוּ הִרְשָֽׁעְנוּ:

We have strayed from Your good precepts and ordinances, and it has not profited us. Indeed, You are just in all that has come upon us, for You have acted truthfully, and it is we who have acted wickedly.

The following is recited seated. When in the presence of the Ark, lean forward covering your forehead with the sleeve of the left arm.

אֵל אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם אַתָּֽה וּבַֽעַל הָרַחֲמִים נִקְרֵֽאתָ, וְדֶרֶךְ תְּשׁוּבָה הוֹרֵֽיתָ. גְּדֻלַּֽת רַחֲמֶֽיךָ וַחֲסָדֶֽיךָ, תִּזְכּוֹר הַיּוֹם וּבְכָל־יוֹם לְזֶֽרַע יְדִידֶֽיךָ. תֵּֽפֶן אֵלֵֽינוּ בְּרַחֲמִים, כִּי אַתָּֽה־הוּא בַּֽעַל הָרַחֲמִים. בְּתַחֲנוּן וּבִתְפִלָּה פָּנֶֽיךָ נְקַדֵּם, כְּהוֹדַֽעְתָּ לֶעָנָיו מִקֶּֽדֶם. מֵחֲרוֹן אַפְּךָ שׁוּב, כְּמוֹ בְּתוֹרָתְךָ כָּתוּב. וּבְצֵל כְּנָפֶֽיךָ נֶחֱסֶה וְנִתְלוֹנָן, כְּיוֹם וַיֵּֽרֶד יְיָ בֶּעָנָן: תַּעֲבוֹר עַל פֶּֽשַׁע וְתִמְחֶה אָשָֽׁם, כְּיוֹם וַיִּתְיַצֵּב עִמּוֹ שָׁם. תַּאֲזִין שַׁוְעָתֵֽנוּ וְתַקְשִׁיב מֶֽנּוּ מַאֲמָר, כְּיוֹם וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְיָ וְשָׁם נֶאֱמַר:

God, You are slow to anger, You are called the One, and You have taught the way of repentance. Remember this day and every day the greatness of Your compassion and lovingkindness toward the descendants of Your beloved. Turn to us in mercy, for You are the One. With supplication and prayer we approach You, as You have made known to the humble one in days gone by. Turn from Your fierce anger, as it is written in Your Torah. May we find shelter and lodge in the shadow of Your wings, as on the day when “the Lord descended in a cloud.” Overlook [our] transgression and erase [our] trespass, as on the day when stood with him there.” Heed our plea and hearken to our supplication, as on the day when invoked the Name of the Lord” ; and there it is said:

The following two verses are recited only when praying with a minyan.

And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed:

יְיָ | יְיָ אֵל רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם וְרַב־חֶֽסֶד וֶאֱמֶת: נֹצֵֽר חֶֽסֶד לָאֲלָפִים נשֵֹֽׁא עָוֹֽן וָפֶֽשַׁע וְחַטָּאָֽה וְנַקֵּֽה:

Lord, Lord, benevolent God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness and truth; He preserves kindness for two thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression and sin, and He cleanses.

[A psalm] by David. To You, O Lord, I lift my soul. My God, I have put my trust in You, may I not be put to shame; may my enemies not exult over me. Indeed, may all who hope in You not be put to shame; let those be shamed who act treacherously without provocation. Lord, make Your ways known to me; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my deliverance; I yearn for You all day. Lord, remember Your mercies and Your kindnesses, for they have existed for all time. Do not bring to mind the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; remember me in accordance with Your lovingkindness, because of Your goodness, O Lord. Good and upright is the Lord, therefore He instructs the sinners in the [right] path. He guides the humble in the path of justice, and teaches the humble His way. All the Lord’s paths are kindness and truth to those who observe His covenant and testimonies. For the sake of Your Name, O Lord, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. He who is a God-fearing man, him He instructs the path to choose. His soul shall abide in well-being, and his children shall inherit the earth. The secrets of the Lord He reveals to those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them. My eyes are always directed toward the Lord, for He sets free my feet from the snare. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am alone and afflicted. The sufferings of my heart have increased; deliver me from my tribulations. Behold my affliction and suffering, and forgive all my sins. See how numerous my enemies have become; they hate me with a violent hatred. Guard my soul and deliver me; may I not be put to shame, for I place my trust in You. Let integrity and uprightness guard me, for my hope is in You. God, redeem Israel from all his afflictions. And He will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

We know not what to do; but our eyes are upon You. Lord, remember Your mercies and kindnesses, for they have existed for all time. May Your kindness, Lord, be upon us, as we have put our hope in You. Do not bring to mind our former wrongdoings; let Your mercies come swiftly toward us, for we have been brought very low. Be gracious to us, Lord, be gracious to us, for we have been surfeited with humiliation. When in anger, remember the compassion [of Abraham]; when in anger, remember the binding [of Isaac upon the altar]; when in anger, remember the uprightness [of Jacob]; when in anger, remember the love [of David for You]. Deliver us, O Lord; may the King answer us on the day we call. For He knows our nature; He is mindful that we are but dust. The chazzan recites Complete Kaddish. Congregation responds Amen as indicated.

(אמן) בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן וּבְחַיֵּֽי דְכָל־בֵּֽית יִשְׂרָאֵֽל, בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַֽן קָרִיב וְאִמְרֽוּ אָמֵֽן: יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּֽא מְבָרַֽךְ לְעָלַֽם וּלְעָלְמֵֽי עָלְמַיָּֽא. יִתְבָּרֵֽךְ, וְיִשְׁתַּבַּֽח, וְיִתְפָּאֵֽר, וְיִתְרוֹמָֽם, וְיִתְנַשֵּֽׂא, וְיִתְהַדָּֽר, וְיִתְעַלֶּֽה, וְיִתְהַלָּֽל, שְׁמֵהּ דְקוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא. (אמן) לְעֵֽלָּא מִן כָּל־בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא, תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא, דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָֽא, וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

Exalted and hallowed be His great Name (Amen) throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingship, bring forth His redemption and hasten the coming of His Mashiach (Amen) in your lifetime and in your days and in the lifetime of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon, and say, Amen. (Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed.) May His great Name be blessed forever and to all eternity. תִּתְקַבֵּל צְלוֹתְהוֹן וּבָעוּתְהוֹן דְּכָל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, קֳדָם אֲבוּהוֹן דִּי בִשְׁמַיָּא וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

May the prayers and supplications of the entire House of Israel be accepted before their Father in heaven; and say, Amen. (Amen)

יְהֵא שְׁלָמָא רַבָּֽא מִן־שְׁמַיָּֽא וְחַיִּֽים טוֹבִֽים עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל וְאִמְרֽוּ אָמֵֽן:

May there be abundant peace from heaven, and a good life for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. (Amen)

Take three steps back, then bow right, forward, left, and forward again while reciting He who makes peace.
