אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ וֵאלֹהֵֽי אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ,
Our God and God of our fathers,
תָּבֽוֹא לְפָנֶֽיךָ תְּפִלָּתֵֽנוּ,
may our prayers come before You,
וְאַל־תִּתְעַלַּֽם מִתְּחִנָּתֵֽנוּ,
and do not turn away from our supplication,
שֶׁאֵֽין אָֽנוּ עַזֵּֽי פָנִֽים וּקְשֵֽׁי עֹֽרֶף, לוֹמַֽר לְפָנֶיךָ יְיָ אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ,
for we are not so impudent and obdurate as to declare before You, Lord our God and God of our fathers,
צַדִּיקִֽים אֲנַֽחְנוּ וְלֹא חָטָֽאנוּ,
that we are righteous and have not sinned.
אֲבָל אֲנַֽחְנוּ וַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ חָטָֽאנוּ:
Indeed, we and our fathers have sinned.
While mentioning a transgression, gently strike the left side of the chest (over the heart) with a closed fist.
אָשַֽׁמְנוּ. בָּגַֽדְנוּ. גָּזַֽלְנוּ. דִּבַּֽרְנוּ דֹּֽפִי:
We have transgressed, we have acted perfidiously, we have robbed, we have slandered.
הֶעֱוִֽינוּ. וְהִרְשַֽׁעְנוּ. זַֽדְנוּ. חָמַֽסְנוּ. טָפַֽלְנוּ שֶֽׁקֶר:
We have acted perversely and wickedly, we have willfully sinned, we have done violence, we have imputed falsely.
יָעַֽצְנוּ רָע. כִּזַּֽבְנוּ. לַֽצְנוּ. מָרַֽדְנוּ. נִאַֽצְנוּ. סָרַֽרְנוּ. עָוִֽינוּ. פָּשַֽׁעְנוּ. צָרַֽרְנוּ. קִשִּֽׁינוּ עֹֽרֶף:
We have given evil counsel, we have lied, we have scoffed, we have rebelled, we have provoked, we have been disobedient, we have committed iniquity, we have wantonly transgressed, we have oppressed, we have been obstinate.
רָשַֽׁעְנוּ. שִׁחַֽתְנוּ. תִּעַֽבְנוּ. תָּעִֽינוּ. תִּעְתָּֽעְנוּ:
We have committed evil, we have acted perniciously, we have acted abominably, we have gone astray, we have led others astray.
סַֽרְנוּ מִמִּצְוֹתֶֽיךָ וּמִמִּשְׁפָּטֶֽיךָ הַטּוֹבִֽים וְלֹא־שָֽׁוָה לָֽנוּ:
We have strayed from Your good precepts and ordinances, and it has not profited us.
וְאַתָּֽה צַדִּיק עַל כָּל־הַבָּא עָלֵֽינוּ
Indeed, You are just in all that has come upon us,
כִּי־אֱמֶת עָשִֹֽיתָ וַאֲנַֽחְנוּ הִרְשָֽׁעְנוּ:
for You have acted truthfully, and it is we who have acted wickedly.
The following is recited seated. When in the presence of the Ark, lean forward covering your forehead with the sleeve of the left arm.
אֵל אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם אַתָּֽה וּבַֽעַל הָרַחֲמִים נִקְרֵֽאתָ, וְדֶרֶךְ תְּשׁוּבָה הוֹרֵֽיתָ.
God, You are slow to anger, You are called the One, and You have taught the way of repentance.
גְּדֻלַּֽת רַחֲמֶֽיךָ וַחֲסָדֶֽיךָ, תִּזְכּוֹר הַיּוֹם וּבְכָל־יוֹם לְזֶֽרַע יְדִידֶֽיךָ.
Remember this day and every day the greatness of Your compassion and lovingkindness toward the descendants of Your beloved.
תֵּֽפֶן אֵלֵֽינוּ בְּרַחֲמִים, כִּי אַתָּֽה־הוּא בַּֽעַל הָרַחֲמִים.
Turn to us in mercy, for You are the One.
בְּתַחֲנוּן וּבִתְפִלָּה פָּנֶֽיךָ נְקַדֵּם, כְּהוֹדַֽעְתָּ לֶעָנָיו מִקֶּֽדֶם.
With supplication and prayer we approach You, as You have made known to the humble one in days gone by.
מֵחֲרוֹן אַפְּךָ שׁוּב, כְּמוֹ בְּתוֹרָתְךָ כָּתוּב.
Turn from Your fierce anger, as it is written in Your Torah.
וּבְצֵל כְּנָפֶֽיךָ נֶחֱסֶה וְנִתְלוֹנָן, כְּיוֹם וַיֵּֽרֶד יְיָ בֶּעָנָן:
May we find shelter and lodge in the shadow of Your wings, as on the day when “the Lord descended in a cloud.”
תַּעֲבוֹר עַל פֶּֽשַׁע וְתִמְחֶה אָשָֽׁם, כְּיוֹם וַיִּתְיַצֵּב עִמּוֹ שָׁם.
Overlook [our] transgression and erase [our] trespass, as on the day when stood with him there.”
תַּאֲזִין שַׁוְעָתֵֽנוּ וְתַקְשִׁיב מֶֽנּוּ מַאֲמָר, כְּיוֹם וַיִּקְרָא בְשֵׁם יְיָ וְשָׁם נֶאֱמַר:
Heed our plea and hearken to our supplication, as on the day when invoked the Name of the Lord” ; and there it is said:
The following two verses are recited only when praying with a minyan.
וַיַּעֲבֹֽר יְיָ | עַל־פָּנָיו וַיִּקְרָא
יְיָ | יְיָ אֵל רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן אֶֽרֶךְ אַפַּֽיִם וְרַב־חֶֽסֶד וֶאֱמֶת:
Lord, Lord, benevolent God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness and truth;
נֹצֵֽר חֶֽסֶד לָאֲלָפִים נשֵֹֽׁא עָוֹֽן וָפֶֽשַׁע וְחַטָּאָֽה וְנַקֵּֽה:
He preserves kindness for two thousand generations, forgiving iniquity, transgression and sin, and He cleanses.

On public fast days and during the Ten Days of Repentance, Avinu Malkeinu is recited here.

Our Father, our King, be gracious to us and answer us, for we have no meritorious deeds; for the sake of Your great Name, deal charitably and kindly with us and deliver us.
Rise while saying the words “what to do.”
וַאֲנַחְנוּ לֹא נֵדַע מַה־נַּעֲשֶׂה, כִּי עָלֶיךָ עֵינֵינוּ:
We know not what to do; but our eyes are upon You.
זְכֹר רַחֲמֶיךָ יְיָ, וַחֲסָדֶיךָ, כִּי מֵעוֹלָם הֵמָּה:
Lord, remember Your mercies and kindnesses, for they have existed for all time.
יְהִי־חַסְדְּךָ יְיָ עָלֵינוּ, כַּאֲשֶׁר יִחַלְנוּ לָךְ:
May Your kindness, Lord, be upon us, as we have put our hope in You.
אַל־תִּזְכָּר־לָנוּ עֲוֹנוֹת רִאשׁוֹנִים, מַהֵר יְקַדְּמוּנוּ רַחֲמֶיךָ, כִּי דַלּוֹנוּ מְאֹד:
Do not bring to mind our former wrongdoings; let Your mercies come swiftly toward us, for we have been brought very low.
חָנֵּנוּ יְיָ חָנֵּנוּ, כִּי־רַב שָׂבַעְנוּ בוּז:
Be gracious to us, Lord, be gracious to us, for we have been surfeited with humiliation.
בְּרֹֽגֶז רַחֵם תִּזְכּוֹר: בְּרֹֽגֶז עֲקֵדָה תִּזְכּוֹר: בְּרֹֽגֶז תְּמִימוֹת תִּזְכּוֹר: בְּרֹֽגֶז אַהֲבָה תִזְכּוֹר:
When in anger, remember the compassion [of Abraham]; when in anger, remember the binding [of Isaac upon the altar]; when in anger, remember the uprightness [of Jacob]; when in anger, remember the love [of David for You].
יְיָ הוֹשִׁיעָה, הַמֶּלֶךְ יַעֲנֵנוּ בְיוֹם־קָרְאֵנוּ:
Deliver us, O Lord; may the King answer us on the day we call.
כִּי־הוּא יָדַע יִצְרֵנוּ, זָכוּר כִּי־עָפָר אֲנָחְנוּ:
For He knows our nature; He is mindful that we are but dust.
עָזְרֵנוּ | אֱלֹהֵי יִשְׁעֵנוּ עַל־דְּבַר כְּבוֹד־שְׁמֶךָ, וְהַצִּילֵנוּ וְכַפֵּר עַל חַטֹּאתֵינוּ לְמַעַן שְׁמֶךָ:
Help us, God of our deliverance, for the sake of the glory of Your Name; save us and pardon our sins for the sake of Your Name.
The chazzan recites Complete Kaddish. Congregation responds Amen as indicated.
יִתְגַּדַּֽל וְיִתְקַדַּֽשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּֽא. (אמן)
Exalted and hallowed be His great Name (Amen)
בְּעָלְמָֽא דִּי בְרָֽא כִרְעוּתֵהּ
throughout the world which He has created according to His will.
וְיַמְלִֽיךְ מַלְכוּתֵֽהּ, וְיַצְמַח פּוּרְקָנֵהּ וִיקָרֵב מְשִׁיחֵהּ. (אמן)
May He establish His kingship, bring forth His redemption and hasten the coming of His Mashiach (Amen)

beyond all the blessings, hymns, praises and consolations that are uttered in the world; and say, Amen. (Amen)
תִּתְקַבֵּל צְלוֹתְהוֹן וּבָעוּתְהוֹן דְּכָל־בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל,
May the prayers and supplications of the entire House of Israel be accepted
קֳדָם אֲבוּהוֹן דִּי בִשְׁמַיָּא וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:
before their Father in heaven; and say, Amen. (Amen)
יְהֵא שְׁלָמָא רַבָּֽא מִן־שְׁמַיָּֽא וְחַיִּֽים טוֹבִֽים עָלֵֽינוּ וְעַל כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל וְאִמְרֽוּ אָמֵֽן:
Take three steps back, then bow right, forward, left, and forward again while reciting He who makes peace.
