The Mourner's Kaddish

In the presence of a minyan mourners recite the Mourners-Kaddish, as follows. In the following prayer the congregation responds with the phrases in parenthesis:

יִתְגַּדַּל וְיִתְקַדַּשׁ שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא. בְּעָלְמָא דִּי בְרָא כִרְעוּתֵהּ וְיַמְלִיךְ מַלְכוּתֵהּ, וְיַצְמַח פֻּרְקָנֵהּ וִיקָרֵב מְשִׁיחֵהּ. בְּחַיֵּיכוֹן וּבְיוֹמֵיכוֹן וּבְחַיֵּי דְכָל בֵּית יִשְׂרָאֵל, בַּעֲגָלָא וּבִזְמַן קָרִיב. וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

Exalted and hallowed be His great Name. (Cong: Amen.) Throughout the world which He has created according to His will. May He establish His kingship, bring forth His redemption and hasten the coming of His Mashiach. (Cong: Amen.) In your lifetime and in your days and in the lifetime of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon, and say, Amen.

(Cong: אָמֵן. יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא, יִתְבָּרֵךְ:)

(Cong: Amen. May His great Name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed.)

יְהֵא שְׁמֵהּ רַבָּא מְבָרַךְ לְעָלַם וּלְעָלְמֵי עָלְמַיָּא, יִתְבָּרֵךְ, וְיִשְׁתַּבַּח, וְיִתְפָּאֵר, וְיִתְרוֹמֵם, וְיִתְנַשֵּׂא, וְיִתְהַדָּר, וְיִתְעַלֶּה, וְיִתְהַלָּל, שְׁמֵהּ דְקֻדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא. לְעֵלָּא מִן כָּל בִּרְכָתָא וְשִׁירָתָא, תֻּשְׁבְּחָתָא וְנֶחֱמָתָא, דַּאֲמִירָן בְּעָלְמָא, וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן: יְהֵא שְׁלָמָה רבָּא מִן שְׁמַיָּא וְחַיִּים טוֹבִים וְעַל כָּל יִשְֹרָאֵל, וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

May His great Name be blessed forever and to all eternity. Blessed and praised, glorified, exalted and extolled, honored, adored and lauded be the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He. (Cong: Amen.) Beyond all the blessings, hymns, praises and consolations that are uttered in the world; and say, Amen. (Cong: Amen.) May there be abundant peace from heaven, and a good life for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. (Cong: Amen.)

Take three steps back, standing in one place one must bow to the right when saying “בִּמְרוֹמָיו עשֶֹׁה שָׁלוֹם”, bow forward when saying “הוּא”, bow to the left when saying “יַעֲשֶֹה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵינוּ” and bow to the front when saying “וְעַל כָּל יִשְֹרָאֵל”

עשֶֹׁה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו הוּא יַעֲשֶֹה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵינוּ וְעַל כָּל יִשְֹרָאֵל, וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן:

He who makes (the) peace in His heavens, may He make peace for us and for all Israel; and say, Amen. (Cong: Amen.)

Zohar, Terumah 134a

כְּגַוְנָא דְאִנּוּן מִתְיַחֲדִין לְעֵלָּא בְּאֶחָד אוּף הָכִי אִיהִי אִתְיַחֲדַת לְתַתָּא בְּרָזָא דְאֶחָד לְמֶהֱוֵי עִמְּהוֹן לְעֵלָּא חָד לָקֳבֵל חָד, קוּדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא אֶחָד, לְעֵלָּא לָא יָתִיב עַל כּוּרְסַיָּא דִּיקָרֵיהּ עַד דְּאִתְעֲבִידַת אִיהִי בְּרָזָא דְאֶחָד כְּגַוְנָא דִילֵיהּ לְמֶהֱוֵי אֶחָד בְּאֶחָד: וְהָא אוּקִימְנָא רָזָא דַײָ אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד:

Just as they [the six sefirot (divine attributes)] unite above into oneness, so she [malchut (kingship)] unites below into the mystery of oneness, so as to be with them above—unity paralleling unity. The Holy One, blessed be He, who is One above, does not take His seat upon His Throne of Glory until she enters into the mystery of oneness, similar to His, to be oneness corresponding to Oneness. This, as we have stated, is the esoteric meaning of the words: “The Lord is One, and His Name is One.”

רָזָא דְשַׁבָּת אִיהִי שַׁבָּת דְּאִתְאָחֳדַת בְּרָזָא דְאֶחָד לְמִשְׁרֵי עֲלָהּ רָזָא דְאֶחָד: צְלוֹתָא דְמַעֲלֵי שַׁבַּתָא דְּהָא אִתְאָחֳדַת כּוּרְסַיָּא יַקִּירָא קַדִּישָׁא בְרָזָא דְאֶחָד, וְאִתְתַּקָּנַת לְמִשְׁרֵי עֲלָהּ מַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא עִלָּאָה: כַּד עַיִּל שַׁבַּתָא אִיהִי אִתְיָחֳדַת וְאִתְפְּרָשַׁת מִסִּטְרָא אָחֳרָא: וְכָל דִּינִין מִתְעַבְּרִין מִנָּהּ וְאִיהִי אִשְׁתְּאָרַת בְּיִחוּדָא דִנְהִירוּ קַדִּישָׁא וְאִתְעַטְּרַת בְּכַמָּה עִטְּרִין לְגַבֵּי מַלְכָּא קַדִּישָׁא: וְכָל שׁוּלְטָנֵי רוּגְזִין וּמָארֵי דְדִינָא כֻּלְּהוּ עַרְקִין וְאִתְעַבְּרוּ מִנָּהּ: וְלֵית שׁוּלְטָנָא אָחֳרָא בְּכֻלְּהוּ עָלְמִין וְאַנְפָּהָא נְהִירִין בִּנְהִירוּ עִלָּאָה וְאִתְעַטְּרַת לְתַתָּא בְּעַמָּא קַדִּישָׁא: וְכֻלְּהוּ מִתְעַטְּרִין בְּנִשְׁמָתִין חֲדַתִּין: כְּדֵין שֵׁירוּתָא דִצְלוֹתָא לְבָרְכָא לָהּ בְחֶדְוָה בִּנְהִירוּ דְאַנְפִּין וְלומַר:

The mystery of Shabbat: She [malchut ] is on Shabbat united within the mystery of Oneness so that the [supernal] mystery of Oneness may rest upon her. [This takes place during] the Maariv Prayer of Shabbat eve, for then the holy Throne of Glory merges into the mystery of Oneness, and is ready for the holy transcendent King to rest upon it. As Shabbat arrives, she merges into Oneness, and is separated from the “other side,” and all strict judgments are severed from her. And she remains in unity with the holy light, and crowns herself with many crowns for the holy King. Then all powers of wrath and all adversaries flee from her and vanish, and no other power reigns in any of the worlds. Her countenance is irradiated with a supernal light, and she crowns herself here below with the holy people, all of whom are crowned with new souls. Then the commencement of the prayer is to bless her with joy and radiant countenance.

If one is praying without the presence of a minyan, the following should added: Zohar, Terumah 135a

וְלוֹמַר בָּרְכוּ אֶת יְיָ הַמְבֹרָךְ, אֶת דַּיְקָא דָא שַׁבָּת דְּמַעֲלֵי שַׁבַּתָּא: בָּרוּךְ יְיָ הַמְבֹרָךְ דָּא אַפִּיקוּ דְבִרְכָאָן מִמְּקוֹרָא דְחַיֵּי וַאֲתַר דְּנָפִיק מִנֵּיהּ כָּל שַׁקְיוּ לְּאַשְׁקָאָה לְכֹלָּא: וּבְגִין דְּאִיהוּ מְקוֹרָא בְּרָזָא דְאָת קַיָמָא קְרִינָן לֵיהּ הַמְבֹרָךְ אִיהוּ מַבּוּעָא דְבֵירָא וְכֵיוָן דִּמְטָאָן הָתָם הָא כֻלְּהוּ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד: וְדָא אִיהוּ בָּרוּךְ יְיָ הַמְבֹרָךְ לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד:

And say: Bless the Lord who is blessed. The word אֶת (the) refers to Shabbat eve. “Blessed be the Lord who is blessed” is that which elicits the blessings from the source of life and the place from whence issue all streams to irrigate all things. And because it is the source, the mystery of the “sign,” it is called “the blessed.” It is the stream of the wellspring. And since they [the blessings] reach there, they all [flow] for all eternity. And this is [the meaning of]: Blessed be the Lord who is blessed for all eternity.
